Colourful Temple Parade Draws Crowds in Ayutthaya

Colourful Temple Parade Draws Crowds in Ayutthaya

The historic streets of Ayutthaya were filled with colour and music this weekend as residents turned out for a temple parade celebrating local heritage and seasonal traditions. The procession began in the early morning, with decorated floats moving slowly past old brick temples and community gathering points. Performers in bright silk costumes danced alongside drum groups, school marching bands, and elders carrying ceremonial offerings.

Spectators lined the route to take photographs, buy snacks from roadside stalls, and watch the performances unfold across the old city centre. Community leaders said the parade was especially important this year because it included more participation from local schools and youth groups, helping pass down traditions to a younger generation. The event ended at a temple courtyard with blessing ceremonies, food sharing, and a small evening concert. Visitors described the atmosphere as welcoming, family-friendly, and deeply connected to the identity of the city.
